Here's how you could win $5,000 to totally revamp your living space

For years our homes have been considered our personal sanctuaries — places where we can relax and decompress. During the pandemic, this notion was really put to the test while our living spaces became workspaces, daycares, and even makeshift cafes.

But in these trying times, we found joy in life’s simple pleasures, from socially distanced walks with friends to morning Zoom calls with family over a cup of Joe. Now, as restrictions ease, we can finally look forward to hosting outdoor gatherings with our favourite people once again.

If you spent more time baking bread this past year than working on home improvement projects, don’t sweat. Ethical Bean Coffee is teaming up with home design and lifestyle expert Monika Hibbs to give Canadians like you the chance to have their outdoor space completely revamped with a $5,000 grand prize.

Once transformed, the hope is that the space will be somewhere the lucky winner can comfortably reconnect with friends and family over a coffee break together. How amazing would that be?

Ethical Bean Coffee and renowned Canadian home and lifestyle expert Hibbs are giving away not one but three escape-at-home upgrades — worth $5,000 each. Plus, the winners will receive personal design consultations with Hibbs to ensure their space feels like a cozy escape from the everyday.

We’re already thinking about how we’d transform our own outdoor area if we won, maybe adding plush seating, tiling, ambient lighting, a BBQ, and maybe even a hot tub. The possibilities are endless, whether you’re working with a backyard, a rooftop, a balcony, or even a kitchen nook.

This space can become a reflection of your personal style and somewhere to relish your midday coffee with friends or alone.

As a brand, Ethical Bean Coffee doesn’t just craft good-tasting products — it does good, too, by giving back to organizations that have been bolstering their communities throughout the pandemic. This is one of the reasons why they selected a Vancouver-based non-profit to receive a custom space upgrade as well: The Kettle Society.

Soon, The Kettle Society will have a warm and inviting space where their team and volunteers can escape to. But not only that, it will be a dignified space where community members can get back on their feet. Beyond this, Ethical Bean Coffee stays connected to the organization by supplying free coffee to keep their staff and volunteers fueled, plus give guests experiencing homelessness a cup of comfort.

The coffee roaster recognizes the challenges Canadians have faced since the pandemic began. That’s why it’s on a mission to reward The Kettle Society and three individuals with an upgraded outdoor space that will quickly become their favourite spot to sip.

If you’re already envisioning how your outdoor space or coffee nook would look after a much-needed transformation, simply visit escapewithethicalbean.ca to enter for your chance to win one of three escape-at-home upgrades with a design consultation by Hibbs.

The contest is open from July 8 to August 19, giving you plenty of time to get your submission in (and potentially have your dream space by the end of summer).

As an added perk, 50,000 coffee enthusiasts living in the Greater Toronto Area and Greater Vancouver Area will also be eligible for a free sample of Ethical Bean Coffee’s Lush roast.
