Police say that a driver has been taken into custody after reports of erratic driving.

The alleged incident took place on Wednesday afternoon and according to a police report, involved a vehicle travelling southbound through the Massey Tunnel.

Officers were unable to find the suspect vehicle at the Massey Tunnel but received a 9-1-1 call shortly after, describing “a vehicle being driven erratically” on Arther Drive in Ladner.

A member of the Delta Police located what was believed to be the suspect vehicle on 56th Street, moving southbound to Highway 17. The vehicle allegedly attempted to travel the opposite direction on Highway 17, before being abandoned in the intersection.

The officer located and arrested a man in a field by Highway 17 and 56th Street.

“This is an active investigation but at this point, Delta Police have no reports of damage or injuries related to this matter within Delta,” says Cris Leykauf, spokesperson for Delta Police in a media release.

Leykauf says that she’s unable to confirm the details of what may have occurred in other jurisdictions, although the police report states that the suspect vehicle may have been involved in multiple collisions in Richmond.

Anyone who has further information about this incident in Delta is asked to contact police at 604-946-4411.
