121 employees test positive for COVID-19 at Mississauga Canada Post facility

Canada Post confirmed that 121 employees have tested positive for COVID-19 at one of their sites in Mississauga, Ontario.

In a statement to Daily Hive, a spokesperson said since January 1, 2021, there have been 121 confirmed cases at their Dixie Road facility in Mississauga.

“Public Health has confirmed that Canada Post is able to maintain its operations. Any employees who do test positive will leave the workplace and self-isolate,” the statement said on Wednesday.

The spokesperson added that since the beginning of the pandemic, the company has followed the guidance of public health authorities to implement “rigorous measures” to keep its employees safe.

“Peel Public Health has directed us to test one shift of employees who work inside its Gateway East facility in Mississauga for COVID-19. This on-site testing began Tuesday, January 19.”

In addition, Canada Post offered testing on-site to other employees in the Gateway facility on a voluntary basis.
