eatART: Power the VAG

Dec 19 2017, 3:51 pm

Join the eatART Foundation (Energy Awareness Through Art), for their third annual energy awareness fundraiser this Saturday, July 6th on the front lawn of the Vancouver Art Gallery.

The family-friendly event will be powered by eight teams of “watt-riders” who will pedal stationary bicycles with their back wheels resting on spinning mini generators that are connected to the sound system. The riders will collect “energy pledges” that coincide with the amount of “watts raised,” with all proceeds going to the eatART Foundation. In tandem with this pedal-powered energy source, an array of solar panels will power the tents and info booth.

The event will feature:

Giant Zero Emissions Kinetic Sculptures: Daisy the Solar-Powered Tricycle, the Mondo Spider, Prosthesis, Quick Fix, Record Breaker and Titanoboa. For more info go to http://www.eatart.org/projects.html

Live Performance by Big Dirty Boots and Mark Woodyard!

DJ’s: Coleblooded, Oz Sapman, & Jason Ho

Watt Riders: Come cheer on your team of watt riders, wearing ridiculous costumes and pedaling to power the event!

Event details:

When: Saturday, July 6th 11AM – 6PM

Where: The front lawn of the Vancouver Art Gallery, 750 Hornby Street
