Where to eat Thanksgiving dinner in Vancouver

Thanksgiving is upon us again, and while the harvest holiday means time off work, spending quality time with family and friends, and a good old feast, it usually brings with it hours of preparation, slaving away in the kitchen.

If you’re wanting to avoid cooking this year, here is a list of Vancouver restaurants offering Thanksgiving menus, with all the trimmings but without all the fuss.

YEW seafood + bar

Diners who attend YEW seafood + bar’s Thanksgiving feast this year will not only avoid doing the dishes at the end of the evening but also enjoy a variety of holiday eats. To start, there is pumpkin soup with a sweet dough crumble, a beet salad, followed by the main event, which features Fraser Valley turkey breast and leg confit, bacon Brussels sprouts, brown butter mashed potatoes, chestnut stuffing, Ned Bell’s cranberry sauce, and vanilla glazed carrots. To round off the meal diners can indulge on a slice of bourbon pecan pie, topped with cinnamon Chantilly and chocolate ice cream.

p2b Bistro & Bar

For just $150 a group of eight can enjoy Thanksgiving dinner around the holiday table at P2B Bistro + Bar in downtown’s Pinnacle Hotel Vancouver Harbourfront. Chef Edmund Yee and his team are set to prepare a butter-basted turkey for diners to carve themselves, along with sides that include brioche chestnut stuffing, sautéed autumn root vegetables and Yukon Gold mashed potatoes.

Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar will offer a special Thanksgiving Dinner service. Guests can look forward to a three-course menu that includes maple-roasted butternut squash soup to start, slow-roasted turkey with apricot and pine nut stuffing, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, giblet gravy and cranberry sauce, followed by a gala apple ‘Galette’ with cinnamon ice cream dessert.

The Flying Pig

All three Flying Pig locations will feature Thanksgiving Dinner as their Chalkboard feature, in addition to their regular menu. Priced at $24, The Flying Pig’s Thanksgiving plate will comprise of turkey (white and dark meat), whipped potatoes, roasted vege, homemade cranberry sauce and an accompanying classic gravy. Diners can seal the deal with a slice of Chef Erik’s pumpkin pie, which comes topped with cinnamon whipping cream.

Bacchus Restaurant and Lounge

This elegant downtown restaurant will be offering a traditional-inspired Thanksgiving menu. Options for this dinner include local butternut squash soup with seared Alaskan Scallop and a five spice cream, a salad of fall greens, and a plate of roast free-run turkey with cranberry compote, sweet potato hash, chestnut and apple stuffing, whipped potatoes braised red cabbage, and roast gravy. Dessert is comprised of spiced pumpkin pie with maple cinnamon ice cream and a cranberry caulis.

The Cascade Room

For a casual yet traditional turkey dinner head to Mount Pleasant’s Cascade Room. The Main Street restaurant is set to serve a traditional Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings —
roast turkey, sausage bread pudding, yam puree, cranberry, and crispy Brussels sprouts.

The Irish Heather

The Irish Heather’s annual Long Table Dinner Series, includes a special Thanksgiving-themed dinner this year. The unique fall gathering is expected to draw upwards of 50 diners, who will sit around the restaurant’s distinctive 40-foot-long communal table, mix, mingle and share their appreciation of classic comfort dishes and well-brewed beers. On Thanksgiving patrons can expect a traditional turkey dinner with a twist, turkey pot pie filled with creamed turkey stew and topped with a layer of cranberry stuffing, savoury garlic mashed potatoes, home-style gravy, and fresh autumn vegetables.

Dockside Restaurant

Dockside’s 2015 Thanksgiving menu will feature roasted turkey breast and leg, Brussels sprouts, candied yam puree, cranberry stuffing, herbed pan gravy, and pumpkin pie, which comes served with honey roasted pecans, candied cranberry, and sweet cream.

Save on Meats – Greasy Spoon Diner Series

The next Greasy Spoon Diner event co-insides with Thanksgiving this year, and takes place on Monday, October 12, featuring chef Gus Stiffenhofer-Brandson from Perch Restaurant. Stiffenhofer-Brandson be serving his own version of dinner classics and prepare a four-course Thanksgiving-inspired meal for two seatings.Stiffenhofer-Brandson’s menu will feature a Thanksgiving ham terrine with cranberry Cumberland and stuffing crackers, and a turkey dinner, comprised of slow-roasted turkey breast, Brussels sprouts and gravy. Dessert will consist of a pumpkin pie inspired dessert.

Securing a seat to this event is once again by donation (suggested donation is $95 per person) with all funds from the event raised benefiting A Better Life Foundation.
