Eat, drink and play at Vancouver's new One Under Golf Club

Vancouver’s underground scene just got a lot brighter with the addition of One Under, Vancouver’s Urban Golf Club. The bar, restaurant and virtual golfing spot opened up just a few weeks ago in the historical Rogers Building on Granville and Pender.

Taking a curving flight of stairs down from busy Granville Street into the dark underground space One Under inhabits hints at the uniqueness and in-the-know exclusivity the food and entertainment hub provides. Upon entering, you are hit with the combination of historical style and innovation rarely seen in our modern city. This combination wells itself right down to One Under’s food and drink selection, decor, and swanky virtual golf cubes.

While the dwelling is most notable for the high-tech golf games patrons can play while enjoying drinks and snacks (including hitting a real golf ball with real clubs), it is also becoming popular for it’s down-to-earth vibe for casual drinks, meetings, or dinner dates – with or without a round of golf on top.

The food and bar portion of One Under centers on their Tartan Bar, a long bar with tartan-patterned seats. The drink menu is extensive, ranging from craft beers to hand-crafted cocktails and an impressive scotch list. Head bartender Julian Dobko’s signature drinks are the One Under, an updated Old Fashioned with White Owl whiskey, and the Seahawk, tanqueray gin with smashed basil and grapefruit bitters.

Their Consulting Chef, Reuben Major, has produced an authentic menu of Italian-inspired dishes, including salads, charcuterie, and a selection of pizzas. Guests can either dine while playing their round of golf, or enjoy the atmosphere from one of the cozy booths, the Tartan Bar or from the lounge.

For groups looking for more privacy and space to spread out, the 1911 Room provides a meeting table, television, and private golf simulator.

The unique part of One Under, aside from the simulated golfing experience, is its hidden locale amongst big name bars and restaurants. If you don’t spot the sign out front, you could easily walk right by without every knowing of its existence. It’s the sort of hidden gem that trendy urbanites love to frequent in bigger cities around the world.
