Think the Vancouver real estate market is going to cool down? Guess again because just recently an East Vancouver house, listed for almost $1.6 million, sold for a whopping $567,260 over the asking price. That’s 35 per cent above the asking price and $1,000 a square foot.

Even for a real estate mad city like Vancouver that is not normal for East Vancouver.

The three bedroom heritage home is located at 65 East 26th Avenue, just two blocks west of Main Street. It has a total 2,154 square feet of living space.

“We do a number of things differently that seems to be producing results for us,” the listing’s real estate agent Paul Eviston told Vancity Buzz. “The market’s still pretty hot for the right properties.

“If it’s the right type of home the market is still moving pretty smartly. But it’s the right type of house, so not every house is garnering multiple offers,” Eviston said.

The home’s price per square foot was the highest ever sold for an East Vancouver home.
