East Vancouver coffee shop to give day's profits to typhoon relief

Dec 19 2017, 4:51 pm

Laughing Bean at the intersection of Hastings and Slocan Streets will be giving today’s worth of profits to assist with the ongoing humanitarian relief efforts in the Philippines.

The coffee shop’s initiative to help Philippines typhoon victims will only be for today. It is located at 2695 East Hastings Street and closes at 7 pm.

This is the second time Laughing Bean has done a similar charitable act. In 2010, it also gave away a day’s worth of profits to assist victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

The federal government has promised to match all Canadian donations made to registered charities until December 8. Premier Christy Clark has also promised that the provincial government will match up to a total of $300,000 in donations that British Columbians make to the Canadian Red Cross.
