Magnitude 3 earthquake strikes near Bellingham overnight

A magnitude 3 earthquake just off the coast of Bellingham, in Washington state, was reported after midnight on Thursday morning.

According to the US Geological Service, the quake happened at 12:40 am in Bellingham Bay, between the city and Lummi Island, and had a depth of 14 km.

The quake’s epicentre was only 69 km from Vancouver, and 39 km from Abbotsford.
