Earnest Ice Cream has opened their second Vancouver location, and are scooping up their delicious flavours at their new shop at Quebec and 2nd.
It’s a spacious store, with much of the square footage devoted to the making of their creative ice creams.

Seating is available on one side of the room at tall table, and a counter with stools faces a big window that lets customers peek in on the ice cream-making in action.
Ice cream is available by the scoop in cup or cone, as well as in take-home pints, along with a selection of coffees. Look for their signature flavours, like the London Fog, alongside seasonal specials on their tempting menu.
Earnest Ice Cream’s Erica Bernardi filled us in on some of the finer points about their new location, and the shared the exciting news that they are readying their scoop truck for launch this summer.
Vancity Buzz: Your new location is in such an interesting area that seems to be undergoing a lot of exciting changes and growth. Can you tell us about the decision to open in that area?
Erica Bernardi: Searching for commercial space is like finding a needle in a haystack. You have to find the right square footage with the right zoning, and the right features like amount of power and water available. And the number of commercial properties for lease at any giving time is only a fraction of what is available in the residential market.
We knew we wanted to stay in Vancouver but beyond that we cast a wide net to find something that fit our needs. We definitely lucked out finding this space – the building is beautiful and the area is fantastic. It’s definitely a rapidly evolving neighbourhood that we are really excited to be a part of.
Will this location offer anything different from your first location?
Well this location will now be our main production facility. Once we get settled in we may expand our offerings and hours.
Can you tell us a bit about the recycling program?
We have always taken our waste management and reduction program seriously (earnestly). From our tasting spoons to our dishes and cones, all of our service ware is reusable, edible, or compostable.
We’re the only ice cream company we know of to package pints in reusable glass jars. We put a deposit on the jars and ask our customers to return them for washing and refilling. We work with Recycling Alternative who helps us recycle almost all of our waste. Lastly, we’re are Bullfrog Powered which means we pay extra on our Hydro bill to ensure that the electricity we use comes from clean, renewable wind power.
All of these practices are also in place at our Fraser Street location.
