Well that didn’t go exactly as planned. A romantic marriage proposal in the town of Ijsselstein, Netherlands went terribly wrong when a crane crashed through the roof of a house building twice.
On Saturday morning, a Dutchman apparently rented a crane to lift him to his girlfriend’s bedroom to surprise her with a very unconventional (but romantic) marriage proposal.
He would have played her a song and popped the question once lifted into position, but instead the crane fell into their neighbour’s house. The man climbed to safety and there were no injuries in the incident.

When emergency officials attempted to prop up the crane, it slipped and fell back on the house again, damaging the house even further.
Despite the highly costly and embarrassing situation, the girlfriend decided to accept his proposal. Agence France-Presse reports that local police told the couple they had no reason to cancel their holiday to Paris.
The pair went off for their trip as planned and authorities are deliberating whether the structure needs to be demolished. Six units in the building have been evacuated as a safety precaution.
