Dunbar Haunted Halloween House Vancouver 2009 Schedule

Where nightmares are born…..

This is a must visit for Halloween enthusiasts of the Lower Mainland (see map below for directions). The setup is downright spooky and on a brisk full moon autumn night the house looks like something out of a scary movie.

This year marks the 5th year of the Dunbar haunted house. It has come a long way from its humble beginnings. The first year featured a few hanging props on the front of the house and a graveyard in the drive way. That year approximately 50 to 100 people from the Neighbourhood came by. What a difference a few years makes, as last year thousands came through the haunt and in the process nearly $30,000 was raised for charities. Awesome.
The hosts do not charge as admission is by donation. Funds are being collected for the BC Firefighter’s Burn Fund, Vancouver Police Union Charity Foundation, and the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau

Having gone last year with Urban Dweller for the first time I was extremely impressed with the quality and level of care taken in decorating the house. There were lineups around the block, however it’s definitely worth the wait of approximately 30 minutes. The house features live actors at night. For families with children you are encouraged to bring them for a day visit.

As host Brad Leith described to us last year:

I originally just wanted to create a spooky atmosphere for kids coming to the house on Halloween. Thirty some years ago when I was a kid more people did something to their homes and yards to make the trick-or-treat experience scary or at least unusual. We never expected that our Haunted House would prove so popular. As the scale of our Haunt has expanded and the time, energy and money that goes into creating it has increased, our motivation is still to create a spooky, unusual experience for people. We also have found that hosting the Haunt provides us with an active and enjoyable means of interacting with the neighbour and the larger Vancouver/ Lower Mainland community. Raising money for children’s charities is, of course, another excellent reason to put on the Haunt.

Go check this out as it is truly one of this cities Halloween treats, you won’t be disappointed.
