Vancouver's Dude Chilling Park to find new permanent home

Dec 19 2017, 3:10 pm

In a city where they are holding a casting call for “The Real Hipsters of Vancouver,” it’s only fitting that it has a designated park/public space named “Dude Chilling Park.” The Vancouver park board is on the hunt for a permanent spot for a sign that first appeared in November at the existing Guelph Park in Mount Pleasant (East 7th and Guelph Street).

The sign was created by local artist Viktor Briestensky.

It’s popularity grew so much so that even Google took notice and temporarily renamed the park on Google maps.

Next Monday the board will vote on a motion to find a permanent home for the sign in a place where all Vancouverites, and not just dudes can chill.

A few locations, including Guelph Park, are being looked at to find a permanent home for the sign.

No word yet if the city plans to save the “Templeton Park and Poo” sign that appeared soon after.
