Richmond RCMP were stunned when a suspected drunk driver drove right into the parking lot of the unit’s headquarters while pulling an attempt to escape the tail of patrol cars.

A police chase begin just after 7 a.m. this morning when Deas Island RCMP identified a 1994 Honda Civic that had been allegedly stolen from Vancouver earlier in the day and was involved in several hit and runs in Delta.

After passing through the Massey Tunnel, Richmond RCMP followed the vehicle as it made a turn south onto No. 5 Road. While attempting to flee from police emergency lights and sirens, the car veered into the first parking lot available. As it turned out, the suspected impaired driver made the wrong turn into the parking lot of the Richmond RCMP headquarters.

Police officers in the parking lot and those that were in the chase vehicles arrested a 28-year old man. He will face potential charges of possession of stolen property, prohibited driving, and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.

Parking lot CCTV cameras captured the takedown.
