Police are investigating after a devastating crash at the BC Ferries Terminal in West Vancouver.
The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon at approximately 4:30 pm.
Constable Kevin Goodmurphy, West Vancouver Police Department (WVPD) Spokesperson, tells Daily Hive that it is believed a man went into cardiac arrest while behind the wheel of his vehicle.
When police officers arrived on scene, West Vancouver Fire & Rescue and emergency services were reportedly on-site, giving assistance to the driver.
The male driver crashed through one of the ticket booths at the terminal and then took off at a high rate of speed, say police. Two parked cars were hit in the process, both of which, fortunately, were unoccupied.
The driver was rushed to the hospital but has since passed away.
“Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service attended the scene and did an investigation,” says Cst. Goodmurphy. “There’s no autopsy report available yet, so the cause of death is not known.”
Goodmurphy added that the driver was the only individual injured during the incident.
