WATCH: UBC's "Hotline Bling" videos are here, and they're awesome

UBC students had a fair amount of fun this week while putting on a special event aimed at getting the attention of Toronto-rapper Drake after the music video for his hit “Hotline Bling” went viral.

Student groups including the AMS, The Calendar, and Dive built a mock set of the “Hotline Bling” video set, complete with white screens and multi-coloured LED lights, where students could pass through and dance to the infectious song. Every dance was filmed, and organizers have been spending Friday tweeting the videos at Drake one by one.

Over 500 videos were shot throughout the week and have been tweeted every 1.5 minutes, beginning at 9 a.m. Friday. They intended to keep going through to Friday evening but have since suspended their campaign out of respect for the victims of Friday night’s violent terrorist attacks.

Students hope Drake sees the clips and decides to stop by campus for a cold beer, or even a performance.

Some of the best videos from the event have already made it on Twitter, and thus we feel you should see them.

P.S. Where did everyone get those grey sweaters? Someone must be making bank.
