Man dies after Downtown Eastside stabbing

One man is dead following a stabbing late this afternoon at a busy intersection in the Downtown Eastside.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. at the southwest corner of Main and Hastings streets, outside the Carnegie Community Centre, when one man involved in a fight was stabbed. Police witnessed the fight and paramedics were called to rush the man to hospital.

However, shortly after being admitted into hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries.

At this time, no arrests have been made. An investigation is being conducted by the Vancouver Police Department’s Homicide Unit; motorists traveling through the area should expect delays for the next few hours.

Few details are available at this time. This is the second stabbing in Vancouver since yesterday’s incident near Nanaimo and McGill streets, which left one man in serious condition.
