Call for volunteers for second annual Doors Open Vancouver

Love architecture, design, sustainability and Vancouver? If so, volunteer with Doors Open Vancouver!

The city’s second ever Doors Open event will take place on Saturday, October 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – with special DOV programming at Vancouver City Hall on Friday, October 2 from noon to 5 p.m.

Back for a second year, Doors Open will throw open the doors of popular Vancouver buildings to the public. Throughout the day, the public enjoys free, behind-the-scenes access to Vancouver venues, learning about civic services while experiencing the city’s architectural, design, engineering and cultural heritage.

Last year, Doors Open saw over 8,600 visits to 20 buildings – and the event was a huge success because of the nearly 200 volunteers who made the visitor experience so special.

Once again, DOV is seeking committed volunteers to assist the day of with setup, greeting visitors, leading tours, social media and encouraging public participation. In return, you’ll receive a collectible yellow t-shirt, invite to the exclusive wrap party, the chance to meet great people in the city and more.

About Doors Open Vancouver

Doors Open events are hosted in cities around the world, including London, New York and Toronto, attracting hundreds of thousands of participants. This unique experience connects residents with the buildings they know, or are curious about, and provides them a look into the activities that normally take place behind closed doors.

Doors Open was a quick start action identified by the City of Vancouver’s Engaged City Task Force to improve civic education and build awareness about city services.

This year, Doors Open Vancouver is being put on by the City of Vancouver in partnership with Vancouver Public Space Network, the Vancouver Heritage Foundation, Tourism Vancouver and Cascadia Green Building Council.
