First Snoop Dogg had some choice words to say about Vancouver’s homeless population, and now another star is ranting about problems facing the city.
Prison Break’s Dominic Purcell – who describes Vancouver as being a “gulag” – posted a photo to Instagram in which he talks about the rainy weather and people with substance abuse issues.

“Not only does Vancouver have a leaking cloud problem they have a homeless population problem that roam the streets in desperate need for help,” writes Purcell. “It appears the Vancouver government and its politicians to my eyes at least are much more inclined to turn a blind eye too [sic] the mentally ill and homeless and rather focus on the enormous amount of construction serving foreign investment groups.”
The actor has been in town filming a Prison Break remake and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
Aside from his hatred for wet weather – he grew up in Australia, after all – the apparently well-travelled actor says he’s never seen “so many displaced mentally ill people take up entire blocks and turn it into a place of disturbing sadness and horror.”
Not unlike Purcell, people didn’t mince words in the comments section.
“What a douche,” writes one Instagram user.
“Ignorance is not worth hate comments, ignorance needs education. Clearly your in-education has made you waste an opportunity to use your ‘cute little’ celebrity platform to effect positive change. So glad Australia doesn’t have a homeless Aboriginal problem ;),” writers another.
