It appears Teddy Blueger’s time with the Vancouver Canucks is coming to an end.
Blueger is a pending unrestricted free agent, and according to CHEK’s Rick Dhaliwal, the 31-year-old Latvian centre won’t be re-signed before July 1. Derek Forbort’s days also seem numbered, based on Dhaliwal’s reporting.
Been told Teddy Blueger and Derek Forbort will be hitting the free agent market on July 1st.#Canucks

Blueger was very productive for the Canucks, after missing much of the season due to injury. He scored 17 points (9-8-17) in 35 games in 2025-26.
While the Canucks are rebuilding, Blueger was lauded for his work ethic and professionalism last season. Blueger also expressed a desire to remain in Vancouver. He seems like a player the Canucks could use, at the right price.
On the flip side, this could open up more opportunities for a player like Aatu Räty, who is coming off an impressive performance at the IIHF World Championship. The 23-year-old Finn excelled under Manny Malhotra in Abbotsford, so perhaps the new Canucks coach can help raise his level of play.
Forbort, meanwhile, missed all but two games for the Canucks last season due to a hip injury. The 34-year-old Minnesota native will be looking for another place to play in 2026-27.
The next 10 days are bound to be busy for the Canucks, as the draft takes place on Friday and Saturday in Buffalo, while free agency opens July 1.
