
A motorcyclist has died after a collision with a truck early on Tuesday morning.
Around 6:20 am, Delta Police repsonded to reports of the two-vehicle collison in the 3100 block of Highway 17.
“Initial indications are that a motorcycle was travelling on Hwy 17 westbound in the fast lane,” said Delta Police spokesperson Sharlene Brooks. “The motorcycle driver was in the process of changing lanes when for some unknown reason he lost control of his motorcycle.”
As a result, the driver of the motorcycle was ejected off the bike and was subsequently struck by a passing, 5-ton truck. The motorcyclist died at the scene.
Delta Police are currently in the process of notifying next of kin and collision analyst and forensic identification members are conducting the scene examination and investigation.
The crash closed the route for several hours, but it has since been re-opened, according to a tweet from Delta Police.
