Defy Cancer at Canvas

Dec 19 2017, 1:22 pm

Together with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada’s (LLSC) Team in Training, Emma Christine is training to complete her first marathon at the BMO Vancouver Marathon and Karoline Monkvik is training to complete her first triathlon (Lavaman, Kona, Hawaii). At Team In Training is raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. They’re completing these events in honour of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on their team, and they need your support to cross the ultimate finish line – A Cure.

There isn’t a single person who hasn’t been affected by cancer in some way. This year, 15,500 Canadians will be diagnosed with a blood cancer and 7,300 will die. LLSC is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. Since the Team In Training program began in 1986, more than 540,000 participant athletes have raised more than $1.2 billion to help the Society advance its mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

A rising star in the Vancouver music scene, this Harbourside Institute of Technology graduate has been steadily producing monster after monster. His skills behind the decks are also just as monstrous. Deep house, funky electro, and uptempo progressive are Nick James’ musical calling card. His smooth transitions and creative builds will gravitate you to the dance floor all night long.

Es Robinski

Born and raised in Vancouver, Es Robinski has been fusing progressive house and dirty bangers since 2004. Building his skills and perfecting his craft have always been his #1 priority. His productions range from his darker, bass-heavy remix of Madonna’s “Music” called “Come Together”, to a savvy progressive/dub bootleg of “Think about the way”. Currently enrolled at the Harbourside Institute of Technology, his passion in the studio is only eclipsed by his desire to absolutely destroy every dance floor.

DJ OMRI is making his way over to Vancouver, and bringing his ridiculously filthy beats with him. He has an extensive background in classical piano, saxophone and drums, and his desire to take his skills to the decks stems from his experiences traveling throughout Europe, where he witnessed the energy and sensation of some of the biggest electronic music festivals in the world. In recent months, DJ OMRI has performed alongside international acts such as Paul Anthony, AN21 & Max Vangeli, Felix Cartal, Harvard Bass, Zedd, Wolfgang Gartner, and Fedde Le Grand.
