Filming for 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool movie, starring locally born Ryan Reynolds, at Vancouver’s Georgia Viaduct has come to an end. The route is now fully open during all hours of the day.

The arterial road feeding traffic out of the downtown Vancouver core has been closed during most daytime hours since April 5, when film crews moved began prepping the site for filming.

It was anticipated that filming could last until Saturday, April 18 at the very latest, but crews were able to finish the stunt sequences with one day to spare. Fair weather for much of the past two weeks was also likely a contributing factor.

About 45,000 vehicles use the Georgia Viaduct and paralleling Dunsmuir Viaduct, which was not closed during the duration of filming.

The City of Vancouver approved the Georgia Viaduct’s extended closure, arguing that the production will bring local economic spinoffs to the city. The studio says it will spend $37.5 million in Vancouver and employ 1,100 people throughout the duration of filming.
