Nov 5 – The first day of runways of Vancouver Fashion Week 2009 presented a much better produced show than last Fall. This mainly had to do with the much improved venue, Colin Campbell, and an energetic staff.
The runways began with designer Dorothy Grant followed by Industry/Button and Papillon. Unfortunately, the Buzz staff had other dealings (day jobs) and were unable to view these designers. We will definitely present some of their offerings as soon as we can.
When we arrived, Broken Ghost Couture and Broken Doll were displaying evening and contemporary ready-to-wear pieces.
This was followed by a great Italian mix of evening wear from Elena Vera Stella and a fresh and trendy collection from Giusari. The highlights of the night being the shimmering wedding gowns.
The final show of the night was by Crossover, who presented Indian wear and also the biggest collection of the day. It contained several great Bollywood-like pieces. Most pieces contained an ambitious array of suits, saris, dresses and jewelery.
All in all, it was an enjoyable and quality evening at Van Fashion Week. I tried my best with this but thank god our fashion correspondent will be there tonight.
