Davis Cup Vancouver 2013 quarterfinals contest

Dec 19 2017, 3:17 pm

After an historic win against ‘top ranked’ Spain at the beginning of February, Canada is set to play Italy in the quarterfinals of tennis’ Davis Cup. The tie, or matches, will be held from Friday, April 5 to Sunday, April 7 at UBC’s Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre. We’ve teamed up with Tennis Canada to give one lucky reader a pair of tickets to all three days of action!

Top Canadian Milos Raonic (singles #16) will once again be leading Canada in this battle. Nominated with him to play are Vasek Pospisil (singles #129), Frank Dancevic (singles #189) and Daniel Nestor (doubles #5). Eyes will be on Dancevic to repeat after pulling off a straight sets upset against Spain’s Marcel Granollers (singles #35) in February.

Canada, coming into the competition ranked 12th out of 16 teams, will be facing the Italians who have come off a 3-2 win against Croatia. Italy will be bringing a strong force, including Andreas Seppi (singles #19), Fabio Fognini (singles #36), Paolo Lorenzi (singles #59) and Simone Bolelli (singles #76).

An estimated 17,805 spectators attended February’s event at the UBC Thunderbird Sports Centre and the same intimate seating capacity of 6,200 will be used against Italy.
