“I’m lucky to be alive.” It was a close call for a Scarborough resident when a loose tire flew down the westbound lanes of Highway 401 and crashed into his windshield.

At 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Andrew Sukhdeo was driving home from work when a tire from a vehicle on the eastbound direction of the highway became loose, bounced over the median and into his vehicle, missing the drivers seat only by inches.

The incident happened near Salem Road, just east of Toronto, and was recorded in its entirety on his recently installed dashboard camera. The video was uploaded onto YouTube on Thursday.

At the 10 second mark of the video, a white car traveling on the eastbound lanes (opposite direction) is seen skidding off to the shoulder after it loses its tire.
