With the World Cup set to start soon and Canada once again totally out of the picture, it’s difficult for most people to root for one particular country. Sure most go with the heavy weights Italy, Brazil etc… but if you’re still undecided as to which team to support, how about Portugal, they have a Vancouver connection.
Daniel Fernandes, born in Edmonton but was raised in East Van and calls Vancouver home, will be one of three Portuguese goaltenders (His father is Portuguese) heading into the World Cup.
From the streets of East Van to the biggest stage in sport. I have a feeling there will be a lot of people in South East Vancouver cheering for Portugal.
