The Ultimate Vancouver Brunch Guide: Danica's Café

Dec 19 2017, 11:45 pm

We’re taking a tasty tour of Vancouver’s many brunches to create The Ultimate Vancouver Brunch Guide. This week we’re at Danica’s Café for a light and nutritious mid-morning meal.

Danica’s Café is a charming European-inspired restaurant and bakery on Beatty Street offering healthy and flavourful dishes by combining only natural and organic ingredients.

The restaurant, which has only been in operation since late last year, has already proved to be a huge hit with locals, thanks in large part to the restaurant’s mission to centre their menu on healthy, organic food.

Along with organically baked pies, pastries, and other baked goods, all made from scratch without using refined or processed sugars Danica’s Café serves a range of both light and hearty brunch fare, many of which are gluten free and vegan friendly.

With five types of Eggs Benedict to choose from (portobello mushroom; bacon; vegetarian; Margarita, and salmon), it’s no wonder this weekend brunch staple is one of the café’s most popular dishes. Lusciously creamy Hollandaise and a side serving of rosemary potatoes and field greens round off this meal for extra satisfying results.

Other brunch highlights include: Danica’s breakfast sandwich ($14); a three-egg frittata with shaved asparagus and goat’s cheese ($15), and the kitchen’s homemade organic granola bowl ($14), which is comprised of organic blueberry quinoa, fruit, berries and whipped coconut.

As far as drinks go, Danica’s Café offers its patrons a choice between coffee, classic and imported teas, cold pressed veggie juice and fresh squeezed OJ.

In addition to a long list of appetizing brunch fare and beverages, Danica’s also offers its customers a warm and welcoming space to enjoy their meals in. Occupying the former digs of what was once the old Café Medina, Danica’s has retained much of the character and charm, while adding its own unique touches to the premises.

While the service is friendly there is a slight consistency issue with the wait time from kitchen to table. Luckily the food almost always makes up for the occasional longer wait.

Together Danica’s Café’s delightful ambience and quality food make for wonderful and relaxed brunch expedition.
