Dan Hamhuis hit in face with puck, suffers gruesome injury (VIDEO)

The Vancouver Canucks will be without Dan Hamhuis for a while, after he took a Dan Boyle slap shot to the face in last night’s game against the New York Rangers.

Hamhuis was bloodied, and immediately rushed off the ice to get treatment. He was eventually taken out of the dressing room on a stretcher and taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Only update I can give is that Hanhuis was taken out of room on stretcher and into an ambulance. #Canucks

Update: Hamhuis suffered a facial fracture and will undergo surgery.

Dan Hamhuis suffered a facial fracture during last night’s game. He will undergo surgery tomorrow. A recovery timeline is to be determined.

Desjardins isn’t a doctor of course, so we’ll await official word from the team.

If we can take one positive from this, it is lucky the puck did not appear to strike his eye.
