Dairy farmers across BC are coming together to support food banks

BC dairy farmers have long been committed to providing their local communities with high-quality, delicious products. But their contribution extends far beyond that. The farmers have a rich history of donating to important causes and supporting their communities.

In response to the pandemic, BC Dairy partnered with Food Banks BC to generously donate roughly 50,000 kg of dairy products and over $200,000 in cash to British Columbians facing food insecurity.

And now their latest campaign, titled So Much More Than Milk, aims to support food banks across the province even more.

Food insecurity is a pressing issue in the province that demands urgent attention. Food bank visits in BC have increased by 31% since 2019, going from 124,000 to 163,000 visits a year.

Additionally, 30% of all food bank users in BC are children, meaning one out of every three seeking assistance is a child. The number of seniors accessing food banks has also increased by 20% in the past two years.

The good news is that it has never been easier for you to help make a difference. As part of So Much More Than Milk, you can also help those facing food insecurity by donating directly to Food Banks BC online.

And, to make your generosity go further, BC dairy farmers will match your donation from July 12 to August 1, up to a maximum of $50,000. For more information about the So Much More Than Milk campaign click here.
