Cyclist killed in Surrey vehicle collision

A cyclist is dead following a collision with a vehicle late Thursday evening in Surrey.

The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. on 108th Avenue near 142nd Street when a SUV collided with a male cyclist.

Upon impact, the cyclist was thrown off the bike and flew a great distance from the collision site. He was rushed to hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver, a Surrey resident, did not flee the scene and is cooperating with investigators. At this time, alcohol or drugs are not believed to be contributing factors in the collision.

Police are investigating the circumstances and causes of the crash and attempting to identify the cyclist.
