One person arrested after 'drug-related search' in Olympic Village

One person has been arrested after police executed a search warrant in the Olympic Village neighbourhood on Monday afternoon.

In a release, Vancouver Police said the “drug-related search” was executed just after 4 pm in the area of Columbia Street and 1st Avenue.

Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services were called to the the scene as well, after police noticed “unknown substances” inside the suite.

Two officers investigating the scene were taken went to hospital as a precautionary measure, but were released shortly after.

Residents in the surrounding area have not been evacuated.

The investigation continues and “officers will be at the scene today to collect evidence and will continue to use safety protocols for working around hazardous material,” said VPD Sgt. Jason Robillard.
