BC health officials announce 508 new COVID-19 cases

British Columbia health officials announced 508 new test-positive COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the province to 75,835.

Broken down by health region, Deputy Provincial Health Officer Dr. Réka Gustafson said this equates to 116 new cases in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 286 new cases in the Fraser Health region, 22 new cases in the Island Health region, 59 new cases in the Interior Health region, and 25 new cases in the Northern Health region.

There were also six more deaths.

There are currently 4,486 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, and 7,699 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.

Currently, 217 individuals are hospitalized with COVID-19, 61 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation.

Gustafson said that 69,970 individuals who tested positive have now recovered.
