BC health officials announce 874 new COVID-19 cases, one additional death

British Columbia health officials announced 874 new test-positive COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the province to 128,763.

During a press conference, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said that broken down by specific health region, this equates to 187 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 574 new cases in the Fraser Health region, 29 in the Island Health region, 60 in the Interior Health region, and 24 in the Northern Health region.

Henry noted that at the time of the briefing, the number of active case counts, as well as those under active health monitoring, were not yet available, but will be coming later today.

Currently, 503 individuals are hospitalized with COVID-19, 178 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation.

There has been one new COVID-19-related deaths, for a total of 1,577 deaths in British Columbia.

To date, 1,749,375 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in BC, 90,296 of which are second doses.
