A cougar was killed in a residential neighbourhood in New Westminster last night after it was seen roaming in the area while kids were out in the streets for trick-or-treating.

New Westminster Police called in Conservation Officers after the animal was spotted after 7 p.m. on the 400 block of Glenbrook Drive.

According to police, due to the risk to public safety the tough decision was made to kill the animal.
