A number of COVID-19 exposures within the Surrey School District were announced over the past weekend.

On Saturday, the Surrey School District said that exposures had occurred at Cedar Hills Elementary, Lena Shaw Elementary, Westerman Elementary, and Johnston Heights Secondary.

The exposures at Lena Shaw and Westerman occurred over several days. An individual with coronavirus was at Lena Shaw Elementary School from October 5 to 9, while another infected individual was at Westerman Elementary from October 5 to 7.

Exposures at Johnston Heights Secondary and Cedar Hills Elementary only occurred over a single day. The individual at Johnston Heights was in attendance on October 9, while the infected person at Cedar Hills was at the school on October 13.

The Surrey School District also announced an exposure at LA Matheson Secondary, which occurred on October 9.

The district stresses that receiving a letter “does not mean you have been exposed to COVID-19.”

“Case(s) have been isolated, and there is no direct exposure risk at this time,” reads letters shared by the district on Twitter.

For some of these schools, including Johnston Heights and LA Matheson, this isn’t the first time that exposures have been detected by public health authorities. The two schools reported previous exposures in early September, both of which occurred over the span of several days.
