BC health officials report 429 new coronavirus cases since Friday

BC health officials said on Tuesday that 429 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the province since Friday.

During a press conference, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said this includes 123 new cases between Friday and Saturday, 116 new cases between Saturday and Sunday, 107 new cases between Sunday and Monday, and 83 new cases between Monday and Tuesday.

By specific health region, Henry said this equates to 2,249 known cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 3,428 in Fraser Health, 184 on Vancouver Island, 460 in Interior Health, 186 in Northern Health, and 84 from those who reside outside the province.

The latest cases bring the total number of recorded cases in the province to 6,591.

There are currently 1,386 active cases in British Columbia. Out of these active cases, 32 people are in hospital, and 12 of these are in intensive care.

As well, 3,063 people are currently under “active monitoring” for symptoms as a result of their exposure to known cases.

There have been two new deaths in this same time period.

A total of 4,978 cases are now considered fully recovered in the province.
