BC health officials report 68 new coronavirus cases

BC health officials said on Thursday that 68 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the province.

During a press conference, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said this equates to 1,737 known cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 2,818 in Fraser Health, 173 on Vancouver Island, 429 in Interior Health, 137 people in Northern Health, and 78 from those who reside outside the province.

The latest cases bring the total number of recorded cases in the province to 5,372.

There are currently 906 active cases in the province. Out of these active cases, 22 people are in hospital, and seven of these are in intensive care. As well, 2,810 people are currently under “active monitoring” due to their contact with potential cases.

There has been one new death, as well, bringing the provincial death toll to 204.

A total of 4,253 cases are now considered fully recovered in the province, as well.
