BC health officials report 269 new coronavirus cases since Friday

BC health officials said on Monday that 269 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the province since Friday.

During a press conference, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said this includes 109 new cases between Friday and Saturday, 81 new cases between Saturday and Sunday, and 79 new cases between Sunday and Monday.

By specific health region, Henry said this equates to 1,651 known cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 2,739 in Fraser Health, 166 on Vancouver Island, 425 in Interior Health, 127 people in Northern Health, and 76 from those who reside outside the province.

The latest cases bring the total number of recorded cases in the province to 5,184.

There are currently 913 active cases in the province. Out of these active cases, 18 people are in hospital, and five of these are in intensive care.

There have been two new deaths in this same time period, bringing the provincial death toll to 202.

A total of 4,068 cases are now considered fully recovered in the province, while 2,594 are being “actively monitored” by health officials,” said Henry.
