A judge at the New Westminster Provincial Court has convicted 37-year-old Coquitlam resident Soo Yo Kim for keying hundreds of vehicles across multiple Metro Vancouver region municipalities.

According to a statement by New Westminster Police, he has pleaded guilty in court to one count of mischief to property over $5,000 and will now be required to serve a three month prison sentence followed by a probation of three years.

He was caught damaging nearly 130 vehicles in New Westminster and Burnaby within one week in November 2014.

Kim is well known to police for other acts of vehicle vandalism, which includes keying approximately 100 cars in Coquitlam in the spring of 2014. He was also arrested in 2008 for damaging about 1,000 cars in Vancouver, Burnaby and Coquitlam since 2005.

His vandalism sprees in the spring and fall of 2014 will cost ICBC about $1-million once all insurance claims have been processed.
