10-year-old Coquitlam boy collides with car while riding bike: RCMP

A 10-year-old boy is in the hospital after reportedly colliding with a vehicle.

According to the Coquitlam RCMP, the accident took place on Thursday evening just after 6 pm, at the intersection of Parkway Boulevard and Forestridge Place.

Police say that upon arrival, they found a 10-year-old boy “who had been riding his bike and collided with a vehicle.”

He suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is said to be cooperating with authorities. At this point in time, alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as factors in the collision.

The intersection has been closed until further notice as investigators collect evidence at the scene.

Note: Initial reports from Coquitlam RCMP stated that the boy involved is 7-years-old. RCMP have since updated their information, revealing that the child is 10 years of age.
