Construction will close part of a major Burnaby road this month

If you’re planning on heading to Burnaby soon, you’ll want to take note of construction that will impact a major road in the city.
According to a news release from Metro Vancouver, water main construction work will take place on Imperial Street between Sperling Avenue and Griffiths Avenue starting the week of March 17.
The work is expected to last approximately one month and will prompt a full road closure on Imperial Street, east of Sperling Avenue to Griffiths Avenue.
There will also be no access or parking within the road closure area, as it will be restricted to local traffic only.
This eastern section of Imperial Street is often used as a popular driving route towards Metrotown for those who want to avoid the high-traffic areas of Kingsway.
“Traffic control personnel, fencing, and signage are in place around the work zone to ensure safety for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians during the work,” stated Metro Vancouver.
Drivers should expect delays in the area throughout this period of construction.
