Volunteers and staff from the Greater Vancouver Food Bank have been onsite at the Honda Celebration of Light starting on July 29.

They are collecting non-perishable food donations at the new Park Stage area at Second Beach during all three days of the fireworks competition, including August 2 and 5, with support from Concord Pacific.

Concord Pacific is both the longest-running sponsor of the Honda Celebration of Light and the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Additionally, Concord kicked off the drive with a seed donation. This year, the Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society is also donating a portion of Concord Inukshuk Lounge sales to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.

You can help show your support by bringing healthy, non-perishable items along to the fireworks display during the two August dates, to help ensure that all families in the Greater Vancouver region have access to healthy, nutritious meals year-round.

Recommended items that you can bring along are canned fish, beans, meat, hearty options like stews, soups, and chilli, peanut butter, pasta, rice, canned fruit, and vegetables. Donations of any size will be accepted.

If you can’t make it to the Honda Celebration of Light events then the option to donate online through the Greater Vancouver Food Bank is open to you. Each $1 donated can be leveraged with the food bank’s bulk purchasing power to provide $3 worth of food to more than 26,500 individuals in Greater Vancouver who access their services every week.

Additionally, Concord Pacific will be entering those who donate either in person or online into a contest to win a two-night stay at either the Sundial Hotel in Whistler or the Westin Bayshore in downtown Vancouver. You can find out more information by visiting Concord Pacific online.
