On a relatively quiet Tuesday night in East Vancouver, Fortune Sound Club was rolling loud with The Smokers Club in town. Based out of New York, The Smokers Club is both a lifestyle brand and a concert tour that brings together some of the hottest rappers in the game right now and their love of marijuana.

Starting out back in the summer of 2010 with their first sold out showcase at SXSW featuring a stellar lineup of Wiz Khalifa, Dom Kennedy, Curren$y, Black Hippy, Smoke DZA, Big K.R.I.T., Devin The Dude, and more, it became clear that the fans’ love for good music and good vibes were in line with The Smokers Club’s overall vision. The rest, as they say, is history.

This summers edition of the tour is no exception and featured a lineup with Cam’ron, The Underachievers, G-Herbo, Smoke Dza, Nyck Caution, Mobsquad Nard, G-Jet, and Liam Tracy. While Smoke Dza and Mobsquad Nard weren’t able to make the Vancouver leg of the tour, the rest of the opening acts did an great job of hyping up the crowd for the headliner, Killa Cam.

Predominantly consisting of males, the room really started turning up when The Underachievers hit the stage. Having seen their live performance progress over the past few years, it’s awesome seeing how the two rappers, AK and Issa Gold, have developed their own unique performance style. Seconds into the performance, the crowd erupted into a magically self-contained moshpit at the front of the stage where people crowd surfed in a cloud of herbal smoke. Highlights of the set included the performance of the tracks “Gangland” and “Outsiders” from the duo’s latest mixtape, It Happened In Flatbush, delivered with their signature bulletproof flows.

Next up was Cam’ron as he entered the stage sliding right into his classic single, “Killa Cam.” While lyrically on point, the overall performance didn’t match the same energy level as the previous act, but the crowd didn’t seem to care; rapping along with the hip hop legend word for word. Highlights included the performances of the classic bangers “Oh Boy” and “Hey Ma.”
