As the winner of Show Me The Money season five (SMTM5), a rap competition TV show, BewhY is situated at the forefront of hip hop’s current wave of popularity in South Korea right now.

The 23 year-old rapper was thrust into the spotlight after winning SMTM5 in July 2016. Six months later and the young artist is already touring around the world with just one album a few popular singles under his belt.

“Ann-yeong haseyo!” BewhY said in to the mic, greeting the all-ages crowd that primarily consisted of enthusiastic Korean youths. Although nearly every seat in the theatre was occupied, this was probably one of the most well behaved and respectful hip hop crowds the venue has ever seen. Fully engaged throughout the whole performance from beginning to end, the audience showed their enthusiasm by waving glowsticks and interacting with the artist when prompted.

Highlights included his performance of his popular single “Puzzle,” “Forever” and “Day Day” from his time on Show Me The Money 5, and when a massive Korean flag was pulled over the bottom half of the crowd during the encore performance.
