Commune Cafe closed, Nero Belgian Waffle Bar takes its place

Yaletown’s Commune Cafe has closed its doors. Confirming via email that they have shut up shop for good, the Commune Cafe Team said they sold the restaurant last month to new owners.

We can report that the new owner of 1002 Seymour Street is Jan Dierckx of Robson Street’s popular Nero Belgian Waffle Bar.

Dierckx told Vancity Buzz by phone that the waffle-focused eatery is projected to open sometime in May and is three times the size of the original outpost.

Dierckx also said, the soon-to-be open waffle house will serve a similar menu to the Robson Street locale, however, diners will also be able to find a range of elevated dishes. Specialty cocktails and craft beer will also feature on the menu, thanks to a newly acquired liquor license.

For further developments on Nero Belgian Waffle Bar’s second location stay tuned to the eatery’s social media pages.
