A commercial garbage truck was involved in a Metro Vancouver overpass collision on Monday and did not stop at the scene, according to officials.

In a media release, BC Highway Patrol said it is working with Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) to investigate the collision.

The incident was reported at 7:32 a.m. on Highway #99 northbound at the 112th St. overpass in Delta.

Video footage of the alleged incident was posted on social media and shows what appears to be a Super Save truck hitting its top on the overpass, causing sparks to fly.

“Whenever a driver is involved in a collision with an overpass, no matter how minor, there is an obligation to report the incident,” stated Cpl. Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol in a statement.

“BC Highway Patrol is working with our partners at CVSE to follow up with the driver and company involved in this overpass strike.”

McLaughlin added that the damage to the overpass doesn’t appear to be severe.

Daily Hive Vancouver reached out to Super Save for further comment but did not hear back before deadline.
