Commercial-Broadway SkyTrain Station Escalator Finally Going up again

Dec 19 2017, 4:23 pm

For those transit riders that frequent the Commercial Broadway SkyTrain Station, there is good news. There is now an escalator heading up to the platform.

The down escalator has been reversed and it now goes up.

The original escalator heading up has been out of order since March 2013.

The reason for the unusually long delay in fixing the escalator is due to the fact that TransLink couldn’t pinpoint the problem with it.

At first it was believed to be the chain, that wasn’t it. Then a new track was ordered (took 4 months to arrive), that wasn’t it.

It’s now believed that the problem is with the bull gear. The bull gear is what moves the chains along the escalator track. That part has now been ordered and hopefully both escalators will be working again.
