This is Colombia’s first trip to the Round of 16 since 2018. They last made the quarter-finals in 2014.
Switzerland, meanwhile, has made the Round of 16 in four straight tournaments, but they haven’t made it to the quarter-finals since 1954.
Colombia is the first South American country to visit Vancouver during the FIFA World Cup.
Switzerland, meanwhile, will be playing its third game at BC Place. The Swiss booked their ticket to the Round of 16 with a 2-0 win over Algeria in Vancouver on Thursday.
Vancouver has sold out all six matches it has hosted, and that’s expected to continue on Tuesday. Colombia has a large fan base, so expect to see a lot of yellow jerseys in Downtown Vancouver in the coming days.
