With class back in session, and a thousand sleepless nights on the horizon, it’s important to know where you can get that sweet, sweet black gold. Or latte-coloured gold. Or like green tea gold- whatever, you get it.
Thankfully, your options are pretty varied. From the old standard, to the new hotness, here are the best places on campus to get your caffeine fix.
Bean Around the World
With a big, open concept space, reasonably priced drinks, and super tasty soups, sandwiches, and baked goods, Bean Around the World is a great place to study, as well as a great place to hang out. It’s also just a few blocks to the Foreshore Trail and the water, if you’re looking to walk off the caffeine jitters.

Beanery Coffee House
Built in a re-purpoused residency building, the Beanery boasts two floors, tons of seating, a pool table, and lots of room to relax. They’re also open a bit later than most coffee places, making it a good place to hang out if you’re looking to get away from your dorm mate. That dude is super weird anyways.

Blenz Coffee
Ah, Blenz. The quiet stepbrother of Starbucks, the wayward stepchild of Tim Horton’s. There’s a whole coffee shop family structure here, but we won’t get into it now. Blenz has two locations near campus; one just outside the UBC bus loop, and another out under MBA House. Both are as decent, as warm, and as strangely orange-beige in colour as any other Blenz you’ll find, so take your pick.

The Boulevard Coffee Roasting Company
Location-wise, The Boulevard is just too convenient to be beat. It’s right on the UBC bus loop, and when it comes to menu it’s solid as a rock. There’s few better place to warm up with a hot cup of whatever-you-like, with a nice fresh whatever-you-like out of the oven, before you catch the bus off to where-ever-you-like.

Great Dane Coffee
This hip coffee shop has it all: clean interior, classy sign, animal name – it’s basically perfect. All joking aside, if you’re looking for high quality (if a bit pricey) drinks, and a good place to hang out in between classes on north side of campus, this is a good choice.

Starbucks
If you’re looking for a Starbucks, then you know exactly what to expect. It’s Pumpkin Spice Latte season, though, so that’s something. They’re not really doing anything new, but that’s because they’ve been doing it well for so long. They’re also everywhere, so if that helps, then that helps.

Tim Hortons
You know what to expect. Tim Horton’s that that iconic taste, comfortingly mediocre donuts, and airport cafeteria decor that million’s of people around the world crave. If that’s what you want, this is the place for you. It isn’t open on the weekends, though, so if you’re looking for an off-hours hangout spot, you’ll have to look somewhere else.
